Arsenal victims of injustice as controversial Eddie Nketiah picture emerges – expert

Kevin Campbell has claimed “key decisions” went against Arsenal in their draw with Southampton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gunners and Everton striker suggested the Saints would not have got a point were it not for the referee.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side came from behind to draw 1-1 with Arsenal on Sunday (23 October).

As pictured by talkSPORT, Gabriel Jesus had a penalty shout waved away by referee Robert Jones in the first half.

Duje Caleta-Car had his arms around Jesus but the officials did not deem the contact as sufficient for a spot-kick.

In the second half, Lyanco was involved in an altercation with Eddie Nketiah.

As pictured by Sky Sports (23 October), the Saints defender had his hand on Nketiah’s neck and leant his head in towards the Gunners striker.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the officials performance, Campbell said: “There was a lot of incidents in the game, that being one.

“It is down to the referee. He is the person who has to officiate the game. He let a lot go in the game.

“It all seemed to be against Arsenal. It was tough to take.

“The home team can sometimes get the rub of the green. Southampton had a lot of things go their way over the course of the game.

“Sometimes you have to sail close to the wind and Southampton did that. The referee helped them out. If it wasn’t for him they may not have got a point.

“For Arsenal, it is back to the drawing board. Key decisions did not go our way.”
