Arsenal working on Leroy Sane deal after Bayern contract twist – Insider

Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Leroy Sane upon the expiry of his Bayern Munich deal.

This is according to former Man United, Tottenham and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game as he exclusively told Football Insider that the winger is attracting interest from several clubs in England.

Brown previously told Football Insider that Newcastle are pushing to land a deal for the 28-year-old as they want to take advantage of his availability on a free.

Sane has less than a year remaining on his current contract in Munich and will be available to begin talks over a move abroad from January onwards.

That availability has put transfer teams across the Premier League on alert as they consider moving ahead of their rivals to find a deal.

Arsenal are the latest side to show an interest in the winger, after they pursued him during the summer transfer window before failing to reach an agreement.

Squad depth on the right-hand side has been a recurring issue for Mikel Arteta’s side, with Bukayo Saka tasked with starting the majority of games due to a lack of sufficient cover.

Arsenal want to jump ahead of rivals to sign Leroy Sane

Football Insider revealed on 25 October that Arsenal missed out on a deal to bring Sane to the Emirates last summer, but remain interested in completing a move.

Brown has echoed that report, as the well-connected recruitment expert insisted that the winger’s winning experience both in England and Germany will only serve to strengthen Arteta’s side.

They’re certainly among the interested clubs,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s fantastically effective, he’s got explosive pace and he’s still only 28, it’s a good age.

“I’ve often wondered why Man City let him leave, and why no clubs in England had tried to sign him before he went to Bayern.

“But now with his contract situation, I’d expect to see him move.

“Arsenal are very interested in him, from what I’ve been told. He can play on the left and provide cover for Saka which they desperately need.

“Now, they’re not the only club interested. We’ve spoken about Newcastle before and there are others.

“But they [Arsenal] are certainly keen and I think it’s one they’ve been working on in the background for a while.

“Not only would he add quality to their side, but he brings winning experience too which is always something clubs like Arsenal are looking to bring in.”
