Emerging Arsenal star looking to beat big-name rivals to starting place
By Joe Nelson
Alex Iwobi is hoping to push his way into the starting line-up for Arsenal this season following his impressive display in team’s 3-2 victory over Manchester City on Sunday.
The 20-year-old scored the equalising goal for the north Londoners at the Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg as they turned the game round to overcome their fellow title challengers ahead of the Premier League curtain raiser this weekend.
Iwobi, who scored six times and claimed five assists in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s men last season is determined to push on this season and star for the Gunners.
Arsenal open their campaign on Sunday when they host Liverpool at Emirates Stadium.
“The challenge for me is to play as many games as I can, and to try to use the opportunities that I get. Hopefully, like today, I can try to get as many goals and assists as I can,” Iwobi told the official Arsenal website.
In other Arsenal news, West Ham have made an approach for a second Gunners player.
