Arsenal’s ‘huge’ ticketing demand has led to price hike, this is why they will continue rising – finance expert

Arsenal are increasing their ticket prices due to the “huge” demand among the fanbase at the Emirates Stadium.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider any club that’s successful on the pitch is going to charge more for tickets.

Arsenal revealed their season ticket prices will rise by an average of 3.9 per cent for next season, marking the fifth year in a row where Mikel Arteta’s side have increased their rates.

The Gunners are also implementing an A+ category for potential Champions League quarter-final and semi-final ties in 2026-27.

It will see general admission prices range from between £90 to £168 if the London giants reach that stage of the competition.

How Arsenal’s ticket prices reflect rise in inflation

Arsenal have successfully increased their revenue in recent years, with their overall turnover improving from £616million in 2023-24 to £691m last season.

That was boosted by a surge in matchday revenue from £132m to £154m across the same period.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed Arsenal’s decision to increase their ticket prices.

“Every team’s going to do it,” said Borson.

“All the fans can be frustrated about it, but we are going to see that kind of inflation. It is roughly in line with what UK inflation is running at. It’s maybe slightly toppy, but 3-5 per cent increases are going to happen in almost every club and certainly a club that’s at the top of the table.

“They’re winning and they’ve got huge demand for the tickets. I mean, we know that they’ve got a huge waiting list, so there’s no real surprise that they’re going to push the prices up a little bit higher.”

How US market is impacting Arsenal ticket prices

Borson insisted prices in the US could also be having an impact on Arsenal’s rise in ticket prices.

“They’re looking over their shoulder,” said Borson.

“US prices just keep going up and up and up, and not just ticket prices within the stadium, but everything else that goes with it, be that concession costs, car park. I mean, some of the car park costs in the US are enormous, so it’s just the way sadly.

“There’s going to be a lot of pushback. There’s bound to be a lot of pushback from English football fans, but sadly, this is going to be an issue that is going to affect all the teams.

“The only teams that are not going to be able to put the prices up are those where they have generally poor performance on the field.”

Arsenal currently sit five points clear of Man City at the top of the Premier League table, but Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.
