Wenger delivers major injury boost to Arsenal fans

By Danny Wright

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s hamstring injury isn’t as bad as first thought.

The 23-year-old was subbed off against Lincoln in the 27th minute of the game.

The Gunners boss is now hoping that Oxlade-Chamberlain will not miss too much action for his side.

“We have to assess it [but] it didn’t look a big one,” said Wenger, as quoted by reliable journalist Ben Dinnery on his personal Twitter account.

Mesut Ozil replaced the crocked winger as Arsenal went on to win 5-0 against the non-league club to book their place in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled with injuries over recent seasons but this year has been relatively good on the winger who has been in the matchday squad on all but one occasion this season.

In total, the former Southampton winger has made 36 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions this season and has provided his side with six goals and seven assists.

However, he has failed to score since the start December when he helped the north London club to a 5-1 win at West Ham.

Since moving to the Emirates in 2011, Oxlade-Chamberlain has made a total of 185 appearances for Arsenal.

He also has 24 caps for England after making his senior international debut against Norway in 2012.

In other Arsenal news, this is why Wenger will be sacked if they lose to West Brom.
