Arsene Wenger provides update on Arsenal transfer plans
By Abigail Withey
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given an update on the club’s standings in the current transfer window and has said that he is open to making more signings this summer.
The Gunners have signed Sead Kolasinac from Schalke in addition to Alexandre Lacazette, who Wenger brought to the Emirates in a record transfer deal for the club.
The club are currently on their pre-season tour of Australia and China where both new additions were able to make their debut with the Gunners during friendly matches last week.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of players over the transfer window including Monaco teenager Kylian Mbappe and his team mate Thomas Lemar.
Wenger, who has been at the helm of the club for 22 years, has recently commented on his plans for the rest of the summer window.
During recent interview on Arsenal Player, the boss was quoted on the club’s official website, and he said that he is still considering making some new recruits: “We are still open to strengthening our team with players coming from outside.
“We are very active on the transfer market and have already realised two incomings. We have to keep a balance as well, that you don’t destabilise the team too much by bringing in too many players.
“But we are still active on the transfer market so let’s see what kind of opportunities we can find.”
The Arsenal manager will be hoping to bolster his squad this summer in order to give the club the best possible chance to succeed in the Premier League and win back their Champions League spot.
Last season, despite winning the FA Cup, the club had a disappointing campaign in the top flight which led the north Londoners to finish in fifth place for the first time throughout Wenger’s reign.
