Arthur Melo set to make Liverpool debut v Napoli after 'crazy' team news - pundit

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will hand Arthur Melo his full debut against Napoli on Wednesday (7 September).

That is the view of former Spurs and England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about potential changes to the Reds starting XI in the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side kick of their Champions League campaign at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona stadium on Wednesday.

According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce (5 September), club captain Jordan Henderson will miss the clash after suffering a hamstring injury.

Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones are also doubts for the fixture.

Therefore, Robinson believes Arthur, who joined on a season-long loan deal from Juventus on deadline day, will make his full debut.

“I think he will play,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He was on the bench at the weekend which is a good sign.

“When you look at the amount of players Liverpool have injured, it’s crazy.

“[James] Milner came on at the weekend instead of him but I think the Napoli game will be a good one to blood him [Arthur] into the side.

“The manager just looks so frustrated on the sidelines. The amount of injuries is not helping.

“Let’s be honest, they have not got going yet this season. I’m sure Klopp just wants all of his top players back.

“The Napoli game would suit Arthur. I think he’ll start.”
