'As a fan it's brilliant to see' - Exclusive: Hutton raves as Rangers plan new deal talks

Alan Hutton has been left raving as Rangers prepare to open new deal talks with rising star Kai Kennedy.

The former Gers defender and boyhood fan at Ibrox, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he loves to see the likes of the 18-year-old break through the youth ranks and into the senior side.

As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, the Light Blues are set to open formal talks with the teenager over a long-term contrat on much-improved terms after impressing with his development.

Hutton admits he is like other supporters in that he loves to see homegrown talent make their mark at their clubs and that he hopes Kennedy can do just that at Ibrox.

Hutton told Football Insider: “As a fan it’s brilliant to see, I want to go and see these guys making their debuts and breaking in.

“It’s another asset for Rangers and hopefully they can tie him down for the next few years and he can go on and make the first team.

“The crop of players that are coming through, it’s well documented that Steven Gerrard likes bringing the young ones through. I think it’s great for the team to really show the youth development side is working at Ibrox.

“It’s really turned a corner if you like. We’re finally seeing another group of players coming through and making the grade.”

Kennedy has just one appearance for Rangers’ senior side, playing nine minutes against Stranraer in the Scottish Cup earlier this year.

He joins the likes of Nathan Patterson and Josh McPake in featuring for Gerrard this season.
