‘As hard as it is to admit…’ – Celtic fans claim Oh Hyeon-gyu is even better than star man
Celtic fans were in awe of Oh Hyeon-gyu’s “ruthless” display against Hibernian on Wednesday (6 December) and suggested he is even more lethal than Kyogo Furuhashi.
The Hoops put out their best performance in some weeks in the 4-1 thrashing of Nick Montgomery’s outfit with goals from Matt O’Riley, Luis Palma and a brace for the South Korean international.
Brendan Rodgers took the bold choice to drop first-team regular Furuhashi from the starting line-up, with the 28-year-old scoring just two goals in the last 10 league games.
However, the boss’ gamble paid off and Oh grabbed himself his second brace of the season – his first goal being a fortunate deflection from Cameron Carter-Vickers’ strike but his second a cooly taken finish after outmuscling Hibs centre-back Will Fish.
Fans have taken to social media to hail the “class” forward, and some feel he deserves to keep his starting spot over Furuhashi.
This supporter was excited by the “different dynamic” Oh brought to the side but is confident that he can produce even more.
One fan is now convinced that Oh is a better option for the Hoops than Furuhashi.
One supporter was impressed with Oh’s finishing in the box which he feels is superior to Furuhashi’s.
Some fans claimed they would be baffled if Oh was dropped for Sunday’s game (10 December) against Kilmarnock.
One fan is hopeful that Oh can fill the void that has been missing in Celtic’s attack at times this season.
This fan claimed Furuhashi’s poor recent form and Oh’s excellent display warrant the latter to keep his starting spot.
This supporter praised Rodgers’ decision to bring Oh into the fold at Parkhead as a “power move”.
