Darren Bent has urged Leeds United to issue an official statement addressing the reports of a positive Covid-19 test at Thorp Arch this week.
The former Aston Villa and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has lauded the club for choosing not to comment on certain issues during the Coronavirus pandemic but feels now is the time for them to speak out.
The Daily Mail report that one individual at Leeds has tested positive for Covid-19 in the latest round of the EFL assessments, with journalist Phil Hay backing up the claims while stating the club are making no comment.

With a number of contentious issues arising amid the Coronavirus crisis, Bent believes that the top brass at Elland Road have acted with integrity with their promotion hopes on the line.
However, he believes they now need to address the speculation and offer some clarity on the situation at Elland Road.
Bent told Football Insider: “As we know about Leeds, they keep their cards very close to the chest, they rarely let anything get out there.
“I’m sure when the time is right, they’ll release the statement. Yeah, it would be nice and refreshing to hear Leeds come out and address these issues but at same time we know what they’re like.
“Even about the whole neutral venues and stuff, there have been issues that they haven’t been outspoken about – other teams have spoken about it and Leeds hadn’t.
“I’m sure when the time is right Leeds will put something out there but it would be nice to hear what their thoughts are with the testing and stuff.”
The Championship is pencilled in to return later this month, with nine games left to play for Leeds.
The Whites currently sit one point ahead of West Brom at the top of the table, with third-placed Fulham a further six points behind.
In other Leeds United news, the club’s plans for Elland Road have left Noel Whelan over the moon.
