Asmir Begovic reacts as Everton make Thierno Barry announcement
Asmir Begovic has shared his approval of the news that Everton have signed Thierno Barry from La Liga side Villarreal.
The goalkeeper was released by the Toffees this summer, after making 12 appearances for the Merseyside club since signing on a free transfer in 2021.
Begovic failed to make an appearance for Everton last season, but enjoyed a successful loan spell with Championship side Queens Park Rangers in 2023/24.
Meanwhile, David Moyes has bolstered his attacking ranks by bringing Barry to the Hill Dickinson Stadium ahead of next season.

Barry has become Everton’s second summer arrival after the North West club acquired former loan signing Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo permanently.
The Toffees revealed via Instagram on Wednesday, 9 July: “We have completed the signing of France Under-21 striker Thierno Barry from Villarreal for an undisclosed fee.
“Welcome to Everton, Barry!”
The Merseyside outfit’s post received a like from Leicester City and Southampton transfer target Begovic.
Barry set to become Beto upgrade for Moyes

Meanwhile, former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown exclusively informed Football Insider that Leeds are keeping a close eye on Beto following Everton’s acquisition of fellow striker Barry.
Beto enjoyed a rich vein of form shortly after Moyes’ Goodison Park return, scoring five goals in four Premier League games, including the opening goal in a dramatic 2-2 draw with local rivals Liverpool.
However, the Guinea-Bissau international’s overall return of just eight goals in 30 top-flight appearances last term leaves a lot to be desired.
But Barry’s Villarreal performances indicate that he will be an ideal upgrade on Beto, while he still boasts plenty of potential at 22 years old.
Following Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s release, Everton could also sign another striker, should they allow Beto to join newly promoted Leeds.
Elsewhere, Moyes has been urged to sign Atletico Madrid forward Alexander Sorloth in a Goodison News exclusive.
