Carles Gil has made it clear that he would like a summer transfer from Aston Villa to Deportivo La Coruña.
The 24-year-old is currently out on a season-long loan at the Spanish club after moving back to his homeland following Villa’s relegation from the Premier League.
Playmaker Gil is currently enjoying a good spell of form with Deportivo who are fighting for relegation in the Spanish top flight.
Spaniard Gil recently helped his team beat Barcelona 2-1 on home soil, days after Luis Enrique’s side had produced a stunning comeback against PSG in the Champions League.
Nonetheless, during an interview with a Spanish outlet, Gil was honest about where he would like to play next season with his loan deal set to expire in the summer.

“The first thing is to talk to Aston Villa,” Gil told Marca. “Here (Deportivo), I am very happy, but now the priority is to achieve the goal of survival. I wish I could stay.”
After a slow start with his new club, Gil has played 14 La Liga matches for Deportivo, failing to score a goal and supplying four assists.
At this moment in time, his side are sitting in 15th place on 27 points from their 27 encounters, eight points ahead of the bottom three.
By contrast, his parent club are set to spend another season in the Championship after a difficult campaign in the second tier.
Villa are sitting in mid-table under Steve Bruce who replaced Roberto Di Matteo in the dugout in mid-October.
In other Aston Villa news, this January signing would be axed in Steve Bruce’s best possible XI to face Wigan on Saturday.
