Aston Villa are set up for years to come after ‘amazing’ twist – Kieran Maguire
Aston Villa will be financially set up for the “next few seasons” after qualifying for the Champions League in 2024-25.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Villa deserve much more praise for their “outstanding” feat this season.
A 5-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on the final day of the season was meaningless to many Villa fans, with their club having already secured a fourth-placed finish in the league table.
The Birmingham-based side can now look forward to their very first Champions League campaign next season under the competition’s new revised format.
Football Insider calculated in December that Villa will bank over £30million from Champions League prize money and market pool payments.
Maguire explained that the income from European football as well as the wealth of their owners has put Villa in a “really positive” position.
Aston Villa safe for multiple seasons after Champions League qualification
“I don’t think Villa have been given sufficient credit for the amazing achievement of making it into the Champions League places,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“You have got to give a lot of admiration for the fact that they’ve also done that while playing in Europe up until the very latter stages.
“So therefore, the demands of a Sunday-Thursday routine have already been overcome by Unai Emery and his squad.

“They will now get the benefits of Champions League football from next season with additional home games and additional prize money which could set them up for the next few seasons.
“With the additional wealth of their owners behind them, things are looking really positive for the club.“
