Aston Villa injury concern as attacker taken to hospital after friendly v Watford – BBC

By Danny Wright

Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish has been taken to hospital after suffering an injury in the friendly draw with Watford on Saturday, according to a report.

BBC WM Sport claims on their official Twitter account that Villa will know more about the 21-year-old’s condition within the next 24 hours.

Grealish was forced out of the action at Villa Park in the 25th minute after appearing to land awkwardly while attacking a corner.

The attack-minded winger managed to leave the pitch without any assistance, but now it appears that there are some concerns about the player’s fitness ahead of next week’s Championship opener at home against Hull.

Many Aston Villa supporters would consider Grealish as one of their key players, and it would be a huge blow to them if the wide-man was to miss any of the opening part of the campaign.

The Villains have a very tough start to their second consecutive season in the Championships as after facing recently-relegated Hull, Steve Bruce’s men have tough trips to both Cardiff and Reading.

Grealish was in and out of Bruce’s plans last season, but managed to finish the campaign well as Aston Villa avoided a potential relegation scrap.

The England Under-21 international earned 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and supplying five assists in the process.

In other Aston Villa news, the club are looking to raid Wolves of one of their key players, but face competition from two of their Championship rivals.
