Aston Villa backed to complete ‘next level’ Nico Williams signing – expert
Aston Villa can go to the “next level” if they sign Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton believes the 21-year-old can thrive at Villa Park.
Football Insider first broke the news last November that the Midlands giants are keen on signing the Spain international and have been keeping close tabs on him.
Williams has registered tallies of seven goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season for Bilbao, while he boasts 13 Spain caps.

The winger, who can play on either side, helped Bilbao lift the Copa del Rey trophy last month, with his side beating Mallorca on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Hutton believes Emery and Villa chief Monchi could recruit the winger this summer, with the duo enjoying a healthy relationship when it comes to transfers.
“I think they will continue with the way it is,” he told Football Insider. “Monchi is there, who Emery knows really well, they are working well together.
“The players that they have brought in have worked out really well, they’ve done well in the transfer market.
“So I don’t really see any reason to change the dynamic. Of course Emery will have a big say.
“It seems to be forward-thinking players who are always linked, so maybe he feels he needs to bolster those areas.
“He has got options, and Emiliano Buendia is still to come back as well. Moussa Diaby is still to hit form, he’s not quite there yet, but there is definitely something there.
“Leon Bailey is doing really well, Morgan Rogers has come in and been excellent, Jacob Ramsey will be back for next season.
“So he’s got options, but I think to take them to the next level, you need to be looking at the next level, and that’s where he sees the likes of Williams.
“It’s going to be an interesting summer for Villa, especially if they get that top four place.”
