Aston Villa backed to sign Harry Amass with ‘big, big offer’

Aston Villa have been backed to sign Man United sensation Harry Amass but have been warned it will need a “big, big offer” to get a deal done.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains well-connected across the game, insisted that it would take a huge offer to get him out of United.

The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in United’s academy and has been tipped to make his mark on the first-team under Ruben Amorim.

Luke Shaw’s recurring injury issues have raised concerns at Old Trafford, and while the left-back is yet to make his first league appearance for the club, he has been tipped as the future in that position.

However, there are fears that the youngster’s pathway into the first-team could be blocked by his more senior counterparts.

Amass’ lack of senior appearances have led to the possibility that he could look to leave the club in the near future in search of more playing time.

Villa, meanwhile, are looking to show ambition in the transfer market by attracted some of the country’s best young talents, despite United’s reluctance to see him leave.

Amass impressed during pre-season under Erik ten Hag and has been tipped to provide an option for Amorim’s left-wing-back role, despite having not yet played a senior game.

Robinson, who has plenty of experience working with top clubs, explained that the youngster may feel he has a better opportunity to play regular football if he moves away from United.

We know Aston Villa are an ambitious club,” he told Football Insider.

“They’re always looking to progress under Unai Emery and they’ve got a very good recruitment team behind him at Villa Park.

“It doesn’t come as a surprise that they’re interested and have been keeping tabs on Amass.

“Amass will be questioning whether his pathway to first-team football could be blocked at Old Trafford.

“I don’t see United looking to sell him unless they receive a big, big offer from Villa.

“They see him as their long-term left-back option, and Ruben Amorim will want to have a look at him and could hand him his chance.

“He’s well-equipped for that wing-back role, so I’d be very surprised if they were open to selling him.”
