Aston Villa could accept ‘£100m’ Jhon Duran offer – Keith Wyness

Aston Villa’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Jhon Duran will only leave the club for a fee of “£100million”.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 67-year-old – who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs –suggested he would be “surprised” if a club were desperate enough to “break the bank” for the 21-year-old.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (13 January) that Aston Villa have rejected a £50million bid from West Ham for Duran.

The Colombia international signed a new contract with the club in October 2024, running until June 2030.

He has scored 12 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions this term, despite only starting in seven of those outings.

Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal are among the other clubs linked with a potential swoop for the young forward.

Duran will stay at Aston Villa unless ‘£100m’ bid arrives, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Villa have come out strongly saying he’s here, he’s got a contract until 2030, he’s not going to move.

“£80million may tempt them. He’s a huge talent, he’s scored some wonder goals.

“Is he worth the £80million? Potentially.

“For Villa, with Watkins and him up front – he’s worth more to them right now with the Champions League football.

“That would keep the fans happy as well. I don’t see him moving.

“Arsenal were linked, but that doesn’t make sense for Aston Villa. I think he’ll end up at Villa.

“Unless there were a ridiculous offer, like for Grealish – another £100million deal.

“Who knows? Some clubs may be that desperate. He’s not that tried and tested, so I’d be surprised if a club were willing to break the bank for him.”
