Aston Villa could agree permanent Jadon Sancho deal after Unai Emery decision
Aston Villa cannot be ruled out of the race to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal this summer despite genuine interest in his services from Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho is currently on loan at Villa from Man United, and is set to leave the latter at the end of his contract this summer.
He has impressed in flashes under Unai Emery, with some particularly strong performances in recent weeks during two wins over Lille and another against West Ham.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Villa could still look to sign Sancho permanently this summer, but are set to face competition from Dortmund if they wish to do so.
Villa’s transfer plans are set to hinge on which European competition they qualify for this season, and they may need to make the Champions League to afford Sancho’s hefty wage demands.

Sancho can be one of the best wingers in Europe on his day, and is set to be one of the most in-demand free agents on the market this summer.
The 25-year-old has shown glimpses of his ability at Villa Park, but may need to continue his recent good form to the end of the season to convince Emery to seek a permanent deal for his services.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It remains to be seen what Aston Villa plan to do with Sancho. Would they want to make that loan deal into a permanent move or not?
“A lot will depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League, but he has been getting more opportunities recently under Unai Emery, so I wouldn’t rule Villa totally out of it as well.”

Villa are fourth in the Premier League as it stands, with six points separating them and sixth-placed Chelsea ahead of the final seven games of the campaign.
Emery’s side have won just one of their last five league games, so they need to return to form after the international break to seal a top-five finish and Champions League qualification.
If they don’t, sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Villa could be forced to sell key man Rogers to balance their finances and stay in line with the Premier League’s new squad cost rules.
Rogers has attracted attention from the majority of Europe’s top clubs over the last 12 months, with Chelsea, in particular, keeping tabs on his progress.
