Aston Villa edge nearer to new signing as player pictured outside stadium

Mile Jedinak has been pictured outside Villa Park ahead of his proposed move to Aston Villa.

The Crystal Palace midfielder has long been linked with a switch to the Birmingham outfit after falling down the pecking order at Selhurst Park.

Rumours of the move seemed to be confirmed when BBC Midlands reporter Pat Murphy revealed on his personal Twitter account that the midfielder was undergoing a medical on Monday.

It seems the deal is now on the verge of completion after eagle eyed fans snapped pictures of the 32-year-old entering the stadium on Tuesday evening ahead of the team’s 1-1 draw against Huddersfield.

Villa owner Tony Xia revealed on his personal Twitter account that the club will announce a new signing after the Huddersfield match on Tuesday evening.

Jedinak, 32, is set to drop down from the Premier League to the Championship after five successful years with Palace.

The midfielder moved to the London club in 2011 and has become a firm fans’ favourite for his committed displays in midfield.

Former Palace manager Dougie Freedman installed him as captain, and he helped guide the club back to the Premier League under Ian Holloway in 2012-13 when was named the club’s player of the season.

Villa fans will be hoping the midfield anchor can provide the club with an elite mentality and aid their efforts to re-gain a place amongst England’s top-tier next season.
