Aston Villa Exclusive: Unai Emery’s transfer budget revealed
Aston Villa are currently working with a transfer budget of around £50million this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The West Midlands giants narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Champions League last season, having only finished behind fifth-place Newcastle United on goal difference.
Meanwhile, Unai Emery’s side reached the Champions League quarter-finals before being knocked out by eventual winners PSG.
They have faced profit and sustainability (PSR) issues over the past couple of years after spending close to the allowable losses limit, with top-flight sides only permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.
Villa completed the last-ditch sale of their women’s team earlier this summer, helping them raise funds before their accounting deadline on 30 June.
It’s been a quiet transfer window so far at Villa Park, with Yasin Ozcan, Marco Bizot and Modou Keba Cisse joining for modest fees, while Zepiqueno Redmond was a free transfer.
Sources say Villa are working with a transfer budget of around £50million due to their financial constraints.
That budget will fluctuate depending on potential outgoings over the coming weeks.

Aston Villa to smash club record
Villa are under pressure to bring their wage bill down after breaching Uefa’s financial rules in 2024.
Emery’s side have been fined £9.5million, with the potential of a further £12.9million penalty if they fail to comply in a three-year period.
Clubs in European competitions were required to keep spending on player wages and fees to 80 per cent of revenue last year, with that figure dropping to 70 per cent for 2025.
Villa posted a club-record revenue in 2023-24 after their turnover increased from £217.7million in 2022-23 to £275.7million, while their wage bill surged from £194million to £252million.
Football Insider revealed on 25 July Villa are likely to have smashed their revenue record again last season, with a turnover in excess of £350million.

PSG make move to sign Aston Villa star
In terms of a potential exit at Villa Park, Football Insider revealed on 1 August PSG are readying a move to sign Emiliano Martinez.
It is understood Villa would accept a £30million offer for their goalkeeper as they look to free up funds for new signings.
PSG have now turned their attention to the Argentina international and have made contact over a potential blockbuster deal, with Gianluigi Donnarumma linked with Manchester United.
Martinez, who is set to turn 33 next month, kept 16 clean sheets in 53 appearances last season.
