‘Aston Villa face major Jack Grealish-related issue in transfer window’
Aston Villa are facing a major Jack Grealish-related problem heading into this summer’s transfer window.
The Villains were part of the transfer merry-go-round that took place last summer, with clubs such as Chelsea, Everton, and Newcastle all exchanging players to remain compliant with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR).
Football finance expert Stefan Borson revealed exclusively to Football Insider that Villa remain in an uncomfortable financial position heading into this summer’s transfer window.
Unai Emery’s side remains keen on signing Marcus Rashford permanently and have also been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Harvey Barnes.
However, with the club facing a desperate dash for Champions League football, another financial issue, this time related to Man City’s winger Grealish has presented itself, according to MailOnline.

Aston Villa no longer able to register Jack Grealish sale in PSR calculations
As reported, Villa have a high wage bill but do not generate the revenue required to cover it for PSR purposes.
Champions League money from this season will be a bonus, but only to a point. What’s more, PSR operates on a rolling three-year cycle, meaning the £100milion the Midlands side received for Grealish in 2021 will no longer be taken into account in the next set of calculations.
A lot of issues though, would be solved by the Villains qualifying once again for UEFA’s premier competition this season.
Villa currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea but behind them by 12 goal difference.
Emery’s side will face both Europa League finalists, Tottenham and Man United, in their last two matches of the season.

Big sale on the cards as Aston Villa attempt to escape PSR sanction
Football Insider Verdict
Youri Tielemans has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
The Belgian midfielder has been one of Emery’s top performers this season, but his sale would provide a major financial boost for Villa.
Given Tielemans was signed on a free transfer from Leicester in 2023, any funds recouped from his departure would represent pure profit on the balance books.
This would then allow the Midlands side to amortise the purchase of several new players and whilst losing one of their best players is less than ideal, Villa have proven themselves capable of rebuilding effectively.
Grealish’s departure was seen as a massive loss for the Villains, but since his departure, they have pushed on to become a regular European participant.
