Aston Villa fans all say the same thing after ‘massive’ Boubacar Kamara update

Boubacar Kamara is seen as one of the most important players at Aston Villa as Unai Emery’s side compete on multiple fronts.

Villa have something to play for in every single match with the penultimate month of the season up and running; preparing to face Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

Domestically, Emery’s side also have the small matter of an FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace to contend with on 26 April, and seven Premier League games remaining to finish as strongly as possible.

The Lions remain firmly in contention to qualify for next season’s Champions League, sitting seventh in the table and just two points below fourth-placed Chelsea as Emery’s squad is put through its paces.

With 24 starts from his 31 appearances for Villa so far this term in an injury-disrupted campaign, Kamara has emerged as a mainstay in Emery’s strongest starting XI and looks set to feature against PSG.

Aston Villa open contract talks with Boubacar Kamara

Kamara’s arrival in 2022 didn’t set Villa back a transfer fee; the midfielder having run down his contract with boyhood club Marseille, but steps are now being taken to ensure that doesn’t happen at Villa Park.

According to The Athletic (5 March), a number of top clubs have been circling Kamara as his Villa deal approaches its last two years, but Jacob Tanswell has provided an update to calm Villans fans’ nerves.

The Athletic journalist posted on X (8 April) to report that Kamara has “formally received” a new contract offer from Villa’s hierarchy in recent days, and tying him down would be seen as a “major coup”.

Aston Villa fans ‘praying’ for ‘best player’ Kamara to sign

With Kamara’s contractual situation being kept closely in the sights of several big-hitting European clubs, Villa fans on social media were unanimous in their hopes that the 25-year-old will stay put.

As Villa look to go all the way in three separate competitions, Kamara’s deal was seen by one fan as “the most important” if they want to remain competitive; another telling all other fans to “pray” that he signs.

Few disagreed that securing Kamara for the forseeable future is “massive” for Villa going forward, but a lone voice argued that if Villa aren’t in the Champions League next term, he could be minded to move on.
