Aston Villa fans can stop panicking as Morgan Rogers injury update emerges ahead of England clash
Aston Villa fans can stop collectively holding their breath following the latest update on Morgan Rogers’ fitness.
Although the 23-year-old only has one goal and three assists in 16 games, Rogers remains an important member of Unai Emery’s squad, with the Villans beginning to climb the Premier League table again.
Villa thrashed Bournemouth 4-0 ahead of the international break, but sadly, the England international’s main two impacts were picking up an early yellow card and conceding a penalty for handball.
He has now put pen to paper on a new deal, and Rogers getting injured while with the England team would have been the worst way to welcome himself back to Villa Park.
Morgan Rogers’ training injury is nothing to worry about
While the attacker felt a “niggle” during training on Wednesday, 12 November, Thomas Tuchel is clearly keen to keep the player in the starting lineup as the Three Lions prepare for the 2026 World Cup.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein (13 November), Tuchel is set to name a strong lineup to face Serbia in a World Cup qualifier, despite already qualifying for the tournament during the last break.
That starting lineup is expected to contain Rogers in the No.10 position for a fourth straight match, suggesting that there was no serious reason for his setback in training.
Marc Guehi is unavailable for England due to picking up an injury for Crystal Palace, and that will be a huge blow, not just for his national team but also for Oliver Glasner.
Aston Villa star must be trusted due to his almost-spotless injury record
Whether the “niggle” the player felt was serious or not, many supporters would hope that he would be rested, at least for the first of two games, before returning to Villa Park.
However, Rogers is clearly very good at taking care of himself and knows his own body very well, showcased by his pristine injury record during his time with the Villans.
Since signing in February 2024, he has amassed 86 first-team appearances, as well as winning 10 international caps, but the 23-year-old has only ever missed three matches through injury.
There is always the chance that he picks up an injury against Serbia or Albania, but Villa fans will be crossing everything possible that he returns unharmed.
