Aston Villa fans deliver verdict on Steve Bruce after 12th defeat of the season

By Amir Mir

Aston Villa suffered their 12th defeat of the season when they lost 1-0 to Huddersfield on Tuesday night – and fans on Twitter have provided mixed views on manager Steve Bruce.

The Midlands club lost out to a Tommy Smith goal in the second half after a lapse in concentration from a corner led to the only goal of the game.

Promotion expert Bruce joined Villa in mid-October replacing Italian Roberto Di Matteo who had lost three of his 11 games in charge of the club.

Bruce has lost nine matches during his time at the club, five of which came on the bounce during a wretched period in January and February.

Many fans on Twitter provided mixed views on their manager with some believing they cannot see any progress under him.

The supporters stated that the team is brittle and that they don’t trust Bruce in the long run to turn things around.

However, others believe that he will help the club earn promotion next season and that the fans should be patient.

One fan reminded his fellow supporters that prior to the game against the Terriers, Villa had won three games on the bounce and also secured clean sheets during those matches.

Nonetheless, there were those who believe that the former Manchester United centre-back shouldn’t be in a job, while others backed him to turn things around.

Villa take on Yorkshire outfit Sheffield Wednesday on home soil on Saturday afternoon.
