Aston Villa fans took to Twitter to pan Josh Onomah for his performance in their team’s 1-1 Championship draw against Preston North End on Tuesday night.
The midfielder, who is on a season-long loan from Tottenham, was recalled to the starting XI in place of Ahmed Elmohamady and played the full 90 minutes of the clash at Villa Park.
Tom Barkhuizen put the visitors ahead with an overhead kick on the cusp of half-time and January signing Lewis Grabban secured a point for Steve Bruce’s side through a 66th minute penalty after replacing Robert Snodgrass at half-time.
But Villa missed the chance to move up into second in the Championship and have taken just a point from their last two matches after a run of seven consecutive wins.
Frustrated supporters took out much of their ire on Tottenham academy product Onomah, who has been a mainstay of the team this season.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Onomah is a dreadful player, he serves no purpose whatsover. If he’s spurs brightest prospect coming out of their academy god help them

I’m going to pop down Bodymore Heath & watch Onomah train. I’m expecting to see Messi/Pirlo/Iniesta/Ibra in the form of one man, scoring 40 yard rabonas for fun. I can’t think why else he continues to get picked?? #AVFC

We were very flat tonight. Missing jack, Onomah not the answer for me. Just one guy I can think of @CalOhare #avfc

If Grealish & Adomah aren’t fit on Sat then Brucie needs it to be 3rd time lucky getting a proper balance in team, Onomah is an odd case, clearly has lots of ability on ball but seems to either lack conditioning or the desire to get stuck in & press opponents #avfc

Terminate Onomah’s loan ASAP #AVFC #UTV

Onomah should be sent back to spurs can’t believe he’s still playing ahead of Callum O’Hare who’s a far better player, we should be developing our own players not someone else’s #AVFC #utv

I rated Onomah until we played Blues away. Good prospect, bad attitude. You can tell he does not want to play for Villa. Time to drop him completely and give Callum O'Hare a chance ! #AVFC

Onomah has been dire.

Onomah, 20, has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Villa this season, which have yielded four goals and a single assists, with all four strikes coming in league matches.
In other Aston Villa news, a key player at the club has refused to commit his future to Steve Bruce’s side after a shocking clause revealed.
