Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Agbonlahor display against Preston

By Amir Mir

Gabby Agbonlahor started for Aston Villa as they drew 2-2 with Preston on Saturday afternoon – and fans on Twitter want the striker axed.

Steve Bruce’s side let a two-goal lead slip at Villa Park after a Jordan Hugill’s brace helped Simon Grayson’s team secure a point.

Winger Albert Adomah gave his side the lead early in the first half with a simple tap in before he doubled his tally from the penalty spot.

Agbonlahor was involved in the first goal but the 30-year-old failed to find the back of the net as he waits for his first goal of this campaign.

Fans on social media were angry that Bruce is continually selecting the senior player as he is failing to provide any threat or quality to the team.

Supporters urged Bruce to drop the club’s longest serving player because they feel his hunger for the team has gone.

Bruce’s side have failed to win in their last five games in all competitions and have failed to pick a win since the turn of the year.

During that time Agbonlahor has been given more game time by his manager and one supporter felt he was one of the problems behind that drop in form.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
