Jack Grealish played 76 minutes in Aston Villa’s defeat against Barnsley – and the club’s supporters expressed their anger with his performance on Twitter.

The 21-year-old returned to the side following his suspension and was unable to stop the club’s poor form.

Villa suffered a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Barnsley and means they have lost their last four consecutive games, while their last win came back on Boxing Day against Burton.

Adam Armstrong’s penalty and a Tom Bradshaw brace secured the points for the visitors, while Jonathan Kodjia netted for Steve Bruce’s side.

Villa fans identified Grealish after the defeat, though, and were furious with his contribution to the team.

Grealish is a product of the club’s academy and has been a part of the first-team in recent seasons.

The 21-year-old is mainly used as a left winger, but can also be deployed more centrally as an attacking midfielder.

He has stayed with Villa following their relegation from the Premier League and was expected to help them achieve an immediate promotion from the Championship.

However, he has been unable to seriously contribute this season and has manage just three goals in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Grealish has chipped in with five assists, but the Villa supporters expect a high standard from the England Under-21 international.
