Aston Villa cut the gap at the top of the table to seven points by bagging all three points at Villa Park on Saturday night as they smashed their West Midland rivals 4-1 in the Championship’s showdown fixture.

It had been a hyped up fixture not least for the local rivalry, but also due to the Steve Bruce’s pre-match comments regarding his opposing manager’s goal celebrations as well as the club’s involvement with super agent Jorge Mendes.

Albert Adomah took the lead for the home side in the eighth minute, only for the visitors to level matters through Diogo Jota shortly after in a game which was at times, frenetic.

Then, Villa took control of the encounter and showed their dominance with goals from James Chester and loanee Lewis Grabban, who seemingly cannot stop scoring.

Birkir Bjarnason wrapped up a very satisfying night for the home side towards the end.

But it was Jack Grealish who came back into the starting line-up for the first time since injury following the Birmingham City derby back in February and took the plaudits.

And it was clear to see from the reactions of Villa fans, just how pleased they were to see their star midfielder back in action and pulling the strings in the centre of the park.

Here is a selection of Twitter reactions to Grealish:
