Aston Villa fans react to ‘massive news’ after supporters were ‘worried this would drag on’

Unai Emery is continuing to deliver positive news to Aston Villa supporters in another show of ambition from the Midlands club.

Aston Villa were beaten 2-0 at Liverpool to put an end their four game winning run in the Premier League.

Emery is once again targeting European football this season, and the Villains currently sit just three points off the top four.

The Spaniard has been boosted before their Europa League tie against Maccabi Tel Aviv, as Aston Villa look to bounce back from their shock defeat to Go Ahead Eagles.

John McGinn signs new Aston Villa contract

Aston Villa captain John McGinn has delighted supporters by signing a new deal at the club, following on from the recent news that Matty Cash had also put pen to paper on a new contract.

Celtic have been strong admirers of McGinn, and have wanted to bring the Scotland international to Glasgow to bolster their midfield.

However, McGinn has decided to stay at Villa with one fan commenting on social media: “He could’ve chosen a career of Scottish medals and a shoo-in Scotland place for the uncertainty of Villa’s challenge. He’s the symbol of our incredible progress in the years which have followed. I think he’s Villa’s greatest signing of the 21st-century so far.”

Another fan was also delighted by the news: “Keeping McGinn at Villa ensures leadership stability on and off the pitch—expect consistent midfield dominance and a boost in team morale for seasons to come.”

Build the statue now lads,” one fan said.

A fan commented excitedly: “Fantastic news. Our absolute heartbeat. We are better team when McGinn plays. One of, if not our best ever value for money signings. My favourite player currently and if not of all time. Some man, some player, some captain. Fully deserved!

Fantastic news!! One of the best captains for our club!,” one fan claimed.

Suspected this would be this week before his 300th Villa game. Fantastic news. Irreplaceable in many ways both on and off the pitch. A leader from Championship to Champions League. Model captain. A character you rarely find in anymore. One of my favourite AVFC players ever,” one supporter posted.

Issues for Unai Emery to resolve

Whilst fans have been left thrilled by the news of McGinn remaining at Villa Park, Emery may have worrying concerns elsewhere.

Goalkeeper Emi Martinez is a growing concern at Villa for his performances this season after being linked with a move away from the club in the summer transfer window.

Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho, who both joined the club in the summer, have struggled to make an impact so far under Emery.

Emery will also be without defender Tyrone Mings for a few weeks after he was forced off against Liverpool.
