Aston Villa are reported to be interested in a summer bid for West Bromwich Albion right-back Craig Dawson – and fans are not happy.
Dawson has been part of a Baggies side who have disappointed this season and are rooted to the foot of the Premier League, seven points adrift of Stoke City.
Despite their plight, that hasn’t stopped Burnley manager Sean Dyche from registering his interest in taking the full-back, who can also play in the centre-back spot, to Turf Moor.
Middlesbrough are also in the hunt along with Villa, although the two Championship sides are only thought to stand a chance of bagging the 27-year-old if they make promotion to the Premier League.
Opinions from the Villa Park faithful were mainly negative and despite the opportunity to get one over their Birmingham rivals they were largely against the idea of Dawson making the switch to Steve Bruce’s side.
Statistically speaking, the Baggies defender has been one of Alan Pardew’s better performers and has scored twice from the rear as well as notching up one assist.
Here is a selection of what Villa fans had to say on Twitter after hearing about the potential transfer of the 27-year-old:
