Aston Villa fans have expressed their shock and surprise on social media after summer signing Robert Snodgrass secured his first goal for the club.

The 30-year-old midfielder scored one of the goals during Villa’s 4-0 triumph over Burton Albion away at the Pirelli stadium on Tuesday night.

Snodgrass netted the third goal to ensure that Steve Bruce’s side went into half-time 3-0 up, and made it onto the scoresheet alongside Keinan Davis, Albert Adomah and Josh Onomah.

Many fans were shocked at the winger’s performance during their Championship clash while other supporters were glad that the 30-year-old had proved critics wrong.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The Scotland international arrived from West Ham United during the latest summer transfer window on a season-long loan.

Snodgrass only moved to the London Stadium from Hull City in January this year but found it difficult to settle in to Slaven Bilic’s side which was reflected in his failure to score a single goal during his 15 appearances at the Premier League side.

The 30-year-old has made just five appearances at Aston Villa so far this season but appears to have been accepted on the pitch after being part of the unchanged starting XI to secure their third successive win in the competition.
