Aston Villa fans react on Twitter as Tshibola is omitted v Derby
By Amir Mir
Aston Villa fans on Twitter voiced concern at how weak their midfield is, as Aaron Tshibola was omitted from the squad to face Derby County on Saturday evening.
Tshibola, 21, has started the last two games for Roberto Di Matteo’s side, with the youngster playing a key part in the club’s win against Rotherham last weekend, and the 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.
It means Gary Gardner and Ashley Westwood are the only recognised midfielders in the squad, with new signing Mile Jedinak yet to feature due to late paperwork.
Villa supporters were worried at the lack of depth in the squad, as Libor Kozak made a return to the squad. The striker last featured against West Brom on January 23.
One fan pointed towards the four defenders on the bench as a concern, with Alan Hutton, Micah Richards, Nathan Baker and Jordan Amavi showing the lack of attacking depth at the club.
Here is a selection of Villa supporters on Twitter reacting to Tshibola’s absence.

MF looks light, I can only assume Tish is injured. Nice to see Kozak on the bench. Elphick & Chester in for a good work out. #avfc

Weak midfield and even weaker bench. Why have 4 defenders on the bench? No options to bring on if it's going wrong. Tough game ahead #avfc

Tshibola apparently injured, and Jedinak not registered in time. Lack of strength in the middle of the park.. #avfc https://t.co/3xT7OdjUxQ

Midfield doesn't fill me with confidence at all today. Hopefully this will be the last game these two start together. #avfc
