Aston Villa fans rip into ‘awful’ player after what he did vs West Ham: ‘No idea what he’s doing’
Aston Villa twice came from behind to notch a 3-2 win away at West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
The Villans ensured that they remained third in the Premier League with their latest victory on the road, as their disappointing start to the campaign has quickly become a distant memory.
Mateus Fernandes put the hosts ahead inside the opening minute, before a Konstantinos Mavropanos own-goal levelled the game in the ninth minute.
A Jarrod Bowen strike sent the hosts in at half-time with a 2-1 lead, before Morgan Rogers continued his strong form for Aston Villa and netted twice in the second half to secure the points for his team.
It was yet another strong result from Unai Emery’s men, who have rapidly established themselves as candidates to secure Champions League qualification.

Aston Villa fans tear into Marco Bizot after ‘awful’ moment
Emi Martinez is being linked away from Aston Villa again ahead of the January transfer window, and he was left out of the team to face West Ham after picking up an injury.
The Argentine was absent for the midweek win away at Basel in the Europa League, and he was unable to recover from the back issue in time to play any part at the London Stadium.
That left Marco Bizot to shoulder the responsibility between the posts for Villa in their latest trip to the capital, and his performance left a lot to be desired.
The Dutchman was beaten twice during the 90 minutes, with Fernandes’ opener beating him over his shoulder at the near post.
Villa fans have been quick to criticise Bizot for his error, with several fans taking to X during the game to rage at the goalkeeper.
One supporter branded Bizot’s involvement in the goal as “awful,” while another noted that it looked like he was “trying to get out of the way.”
Another fan suggested that the gloveman should not have been beaten from such a tight angle, while it was also suggested that he “inspires no confidence whatsoever” in the players in front of him.
- @Trentvilla1: “Awful from (Ezri) Konsa and no idea what Bizot is doing. Yet another first shot goal.”
- @KishinJay: “Can’t blame him too much after what Konsa did but that is awful from Bizot too.”
- @CraigML1: “Still saying Bizot is no better than (Robin) Olsen.”
Mateus Fernandes breaks 2025-26 Premier League record
Villa’s clash with West Ham went downhill for them right from the opening action in the capital, as they found themselves a goal down within the blink of an eye.
Emery’s men fell behind from what was effectively the first attack of the game, and they handed their struggling hosts some vital confidence for the rest of the afternoon.
Fernandes’ strike came just 29 seconds into the encounter and broke the previous record for the quickest goal scored in the Premier League this season.
Hugo Ekitike’s strike against Brighton on Saturday had become the new leader, with the Frenchman finding the back of the net after just 46 seconds, but he has now been displaced by the West Ham man.
It was a nightmare start for the visitors, who will be thankfully that they were eventually able to recover from the early setback.
