'Why on earth?' - Aston Villa fans rage at Steve Bruce team selection v Millwall

Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter in shock after finding out that Steve Bruce has dropped Conor Hourihane for the game against Millwall on Saturday.

Hourihane has played 20 times for Aston Villa across all competitions this season, scoring five goals.

The midfielder had previously only missed one league game for the club, only making the bench for the game against Hull City.

And Villa fans can’t understand why he’d be dropped for a game they need to win to keep their momentum going.

Here are the best tweets from disgruntled Aston Villa fans:

The Villans go into the game with Millwall, fifth in the league with 36 points, 14 more than their opposition.

Under Steve Bruce, Aston Villa have won 18 league games this calendar year, which is the most they’ve won in a single year since 2008.

However, Millwall did win the last meeting between the two sides back in the 2012/13 season, when they knocked Villa out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win at The Den.

Millwall go into this game after defeating fourth placed Sheffield United 3-1, but Millwall have not won back to back games in the Championship since 2014.
