Aston Villa fans: Tyrone Mings ‘out for months’ in ‘heartbreaking’ injury blow

Aston Villa fans are fearing Tyrone Mings will be ruled out for “months” after picking up another injury during their clash with West Ham.

Unai Emery’s side struggled to a 1-1 draw at Villa Park after they failed to add to Jacob Ramsey’s early goal and Emerson Palmieri headed home the equaliser in the 70th minute.

However, all eyes were on Mings after the defender stopped play to receive treatment and left the field of play shortly before half-time, causing tangible concern around the stadium.

The 31-year-old made his return to first-team action in October after missing over a year with a cruciate ligament tear, and has now suffered yet another blow.

Villa fans were left “heartbroken” as he limped off the pitch after just 38 minutes.

Others, meanwhile, pointed at the growing need for new signings in defence if Mings is sidelined for a significant period given their lack of depth at the back.

Former Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in December that Villa were putting plans in place to sign a “top-class” centre-back during the January window.

Tyrone Mings dealt devastating injury blow for Aston Villa v West Ham

Mings has made just nine senior appearances for Villa since his return from injury and had established himself in Emery’s starting XI one again.

However, he now looks to have been dealt a devastating blow as fans await an official verdict and confirmation from the club’s medical staff.

In the meantime, many have taken to social media to with the centre-back the best as they revealed they had been left “gutted” by the development.
