Aston Villa fans urge Tony Xia to bring back 24-year-old flop after his Twitter comments

By Amir Mir

Tony Xia revealed on Sunday that a number of clubs have shown interest in Jordan Veretout – but Aston Villa fans on Twitter have urged the owner to bring him back to the club.

The 24-year-old flop was part of Villa’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship last season.

He is currently out on loan at French outfit Saint-Etienne where the midfielder has had a reasonable campaign.

Veretout netted a solo effort during a Ligue 1 encounter against Dijon at the weekend which promoted owner Xia to makes these comments about him.

Despite Veretout producing a poor debut campaign at Villa, fans believe the club should bring him back for their promotion charge next season.

One fan stated that the Frenchman will only improve the squad and that he is a good player to have around the team.

Veretout’s loan deal at Saint-Etienne is due to expire in the summer, with some fans calling for the club to persuade him to stay when he returns.

However, other supporters pointed out that he is contracted to the club and shouldn’t need to be persuaded to stay.

Since Veretout left the club last summer, a new manager, new owner and up to 17 new players have walked through the doors at Bodymoor Heath.

As a result, one fan stated that he only knows the toxic Villa from the previous campaign and that he should be given a chance.

Overall, the Villa Park faithful were in agreement that they would like Veretout to return to the club because they feel he would improve Steve Bruce’s squad.
