Aston Villa fans want loanee recalled after ‘ridiculously good’ moment away from Villa Park

Aston Villa are already crying out for one of their loan players to be recalled by the club following his recent exploits.

Villa drew 1-1 with Sunderland in their most recent Premier League match, leaving them stranded in the relegation zone after five matches, and the only positive sign came in the Europa League.

John McGinn scored Villa’s only goal against Bologna – their second of the entire 2025-26 campaign – but it is still a worrying period for Unai Emery and his players, whose form has dropped significantly.

With the likes of Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers struggling in front of goal so far, fans are keen to keep an eye on players away from Villa Park, and one star has already made quite the impact while on loan.

Samuel Iling-Junior scores a stunning opener vs Leicester City

In his first start for West Brom since joining the Championship outfit during the summer, Samuel Iling-Junior got the Hawthorns rocking with an opening goal against Leicester City on Friday, 26 September.

The 21-year-old has yet to even make his debut for the Villans, but after weaving in and out of the Foxes’ defence, fans back at Villa Park are ready for the wing-back to be brought back early.

Iling-Junior made 45 first-team appearances at Juventus before returning to England, having come through the Chelsea academy, but life has not worked out as he might have expected.

After difficult loan spells at Bologna and Middlesbrough, he was sent back out on loan, and this time, Iling-Junior joined the Baggies. It seems as though fans have seen enough to be convinced by his talents.

Which other Aston Villa players are on loan in the Championship?

Lewis Dobbin has made a quick start to life in the Championship, notching two goals and an assist in his opening four games for Preston North End. Last season’s loan at Norwich City was disappointing.

Louie Barry is also testing himself in England’s second division, but after six games with Sheffield United, the forward might already be regretting his decision to join the Blades, who sit bottom of the table.

Supporters will be hoping to see much more of Iling-Junior in West Brom’s starting lineup, and after his goal against Leicester, there is no reason why he should be sent back to the bench anytime soon.
