Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has been left fearful that the proposed loan deal to bring in Axel Tuanzebe for the remainder of the season will not be completed before the window closes, according to a report.
The Express report that Manchester United’s failure to respond to Villa’s enquiry has left the Villan’s bosses anxious ahead of the potential deal.
Bruce would like to bring in the 20-year-old United prospect as cover for the starting centre-half pairing of John Terry and James Chester.
However, it seems that Manchester United are slightly reluctant to release to academy prospect, and are still considering the offer.
“We are a bit afraid of injuries, a bit afraid of needing him,” Mourinho admitted in a press conference as quoted by the Express.
“It is something we are thinking about, a loan until the end of the season,” the United manager added.
Football Insider verdict:
Both teams are in need of cover for their defence due to injury concerns, and Axel Tuanzebe fits that bill. It speaks volumes of how highly rated Tuanzebe is that Mourinho is fearful of losing him, however you feel more game time is what is needed for the 20-year-old to develop; as he has only featured three times this season. The chance to learn under John Terry must be an attractive prospect for Tuanzebe – who is likely to see more of the pitch at Villa Park. Eric Bailly’s fitness will be a key factor in deciding the deal for Mourinho, who does not want to be left short of defensive options.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, this attacking midfielder could be set to rejoin his parent club early.
