Tom Fox has resigned from his position as chief executive of Aston Villa with immediate effect – and fans were dancing on the virtual streets of Twitter.
The Midlands club announced the CEO’s departure on Thursday with Villa bottom of the Premier League table and staring the Championship in the face.
Former Arsenal commercial director Fox only arrived at Villa in 2014, but has been an unpopular figure among fans especially with the club’s drastic decline of fortunes in recent seasons.
The news follows the sacking of director Hendrik Almstadt, who left the club on Tuesday, and a wave of pure joy is sweeping among Villa supporters on Twitter.

Thanks for absolutely nothing Tom Fox. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

After spending the season earning the tag of the worst team in the league and avoiding major decisions, many Villa supporters will relate to this tweet.
I must say, it's a small shame Tom Fox has stepped down at Aston Villa. Apart from near certain relegation, it was going quite well.

Villa travel to Swansea on Saturday on 16 points after 30 games and with the weight of five straight league defeats on their backs.
