Aston Villa fans are outraged after the club announced ticket price increases for their quarter-final Europa League clash against Bologna.

Unai Emery’s side progressed into the next round of the competition on Thursday after a routine 3-0 aggregate victory over Lille Olympique Sporting Club.

However, ticket prices have been a major issue for Villa supporters in the competition to date, with only 37,583 fans attending the second leg game against Lille on Thursday.

Now, after ticket prices were increased again, with some reaching £77, many supporters were furious.

With Villa facing a crucial tie against Bologna after the international break, fans feel that they could be priced out of the quarter-final clash.

After their victory against Lille, Aston Villa, on 19 March, quickly announced the ticket details for the Bologna showdown.

This has seen adult ticket prices increase by £10 unilaterally, with the most expensive ticket now being worth £77.

In comparison, the cheapest is going for £65, with supporters with season tickets able to get £10.

On top of this, it was confirmed that general admission season ticket holders had until 23 March to secure their ticket if they wanted to guarantee sitting in their own seat.

All of this has disgusted the Villa Park faithful, with many quickly taking to X to express their anger at the announcement.

Is this a wind up? On sale tomorrow with 3 days to but my own seat? Another £70 before payday or lose my seat? Reason??? 37k attendance tonight cause none of your ga+ sell and you wont release them to fans?

What’s Aston Villa’s average Europa League attendance this season?

Despite former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively telling Football Insider that Champions League qualification could bag Villa an extra £50million, attendances have not been high for the club in the Europa League.

So far, they have averaged 33,507 fans at Villa Park in the competition, far below their 42,918 capacity.

However, the board clearly has little concern about attempting to increase this average after the latest price hikes.

The quarter-finals are one of the biggest games in Villa’s recent history. Yet, loyal supporters may not be able to attend the game.

It remains to be seen if Villa are able to sell the game against Bologna out, or if the attendance will continue to remain below capacity.

The game at Villa Park against Bologna will take place on 16 April, with the reverse fixture coming a week earlier on 9 April.
