Aston Villa handed major boost as Cash image emerges pre-Brighton - pundit

Matty Cash’s recent appearances for Poland are a major “plus” for Aston Villa, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted Cash’s confidence will be “sky high” ahead of the Brighton & Hove Albion game after making his national team debut in the recent international break.

The Athletic reported the right-back’s journey to representing the country where his grandfather hails from took three years.

Poland began seriously tracking the 24-year-old signed for Villa from Championship side Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2020.

He made his debut in a 4-1 win over Andorra as a substitute last week before starting Poland’s home loss to Hungary earlier this week.

Cash played with Robert Lewandowski out in Andorra and shared a picture on Twitter of the two celebrating the striker’s second goal of the game.

And Agbonlahor has claimed playing with one of the world’s best players can only benefit Villa.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Cash is just going to be buzzing,

“His confidence must be sky high after playing with the likes of Lewandowski and his country.

“It’s good news for Aston Villa, for him to get the experience of playing international football.

“It’s definitely a plus for Aston Villa.”

Cash has started all 11 of Villa’s Premier League games this season and has been one of the club’s best performers despite their poor form.

The Midlands outfit are currently on a run of five consecutive defeats that saw the club’s hierarchy move to replace Dean Smith with Steven Gerrard over the international break.
