Sources: QPR in advanced talks to sign Aston Villa star Tim Iroegbunam

QPR are in advanced talks to sign Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship club are working on a deal to take the 19-year-old on loan.

Villa have given the green light to Iroegbunam linking up again at Rangers with their former coach Michael Beale, who is in charge at Loftus Road.

The deal is expected to be completed by Thursday’s transfer cut-off.

Iroegbunam is under contract at Villa Park until the summer of 2027 having signed an extension in March this year.

He spent the bulk of his youth career with West Brom before switching to Villa in 2021.

He graduated from the youth setup soon after and made his debut in a 2-0 win over Brighton in March this year

The Birmingham-born midfielder has also turned out six times for England at the Under-19 level.

He is one of many youngsters to sign for Villa in a recruitment flurry of rising stars in recent years.

He could become QPR’s sixth addition of the summer and their fifth from a Premier League outfit.

Taylor Richards, Tyler Roberts and Ethan Laird have joined on loan from Brighton, Leeds United and Man United respectively.

Centre-back Jake Clarke-Salter meanwhile signed on a free transfer following the expiration of his Chelsea contract.

Michael Beale’s side have now won their last two matches and are up to 9th place in the second tier.
