Aston Villa may strike up special relationship with London club after deal agreed - pundit

Multiple Aston Villa youngsters could join Michael Beale’s Queen Park Rangers on loan ahead of the 2022-23 season, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed Steven Gerrard will use his relationship with Beale and send players to the Championship club.

QPR confirmed earlier this month (1 June) that the 41-year-old had left his role as assistant manager of Aston Villa to move to Loftus Road.

The Daily Express reported on Tuesday (14 June) that Gerrard will lend his friend a hand by prioritising him if he wants any of Villa’s talented youngsters.

It is claimed a decision will be made late on in the transfer window on the likes of Cameron Archer, Tim Iroegbunam, Kaine Kesler Hayden, Louie Barry and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.

Asked whether he thought there could be a fruitful relationship between QPR and Villa, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, I think so.

“If there are players that Steven Gerrard has got and they need game time and if Beale is after them then I’m sure it will be a relationship that still goes on.

“First of all, he’ll be looking at the players in the pre-season tour and have a look at them.

“There’s going to be five subs next season so you are going to need a bigger squad.”

Beale was Gerrard’s assistant at Rangers and followed him to Villa in November 2021 when Dean Smith was sacked.

He has also had spells at Liverpool, Chelsea and Sao Paulo but the QPR job is his first senior managerial role.
