Aston Villa midfielder sends warning message to Leeds ahead of Thursday clash

By Harvey Byrne

Aston Villa midfielder Leandro Bacuna has warned that his side will be looking to make amends against Leeds ahead of their next fixture.

The two sides are preparing to face each other on Thursday evening at Villa Park for the 7.45pm kick off.

It will be the second time the two clubs have met this season with the teams already meeting earlier in the month.

Two second half strikes from Kemar Roofe and Chris Wood ensured that Leeds secured all three points at home in the 2-0 victory.

However, Bacuna now believes that the Midlands giants will be looking to put things right at home and that the team feels confident when the fans are behind them.

“Back-to-back home wins has been good for us,” told Bacuna to the Birmingham Mail. “Now we have to keep going and get that home feeling back. We want to win as many as we can.

“The game at Leeds was disappointing for us because we let it slip away.

“We have a good chance to make it right when they come to our place on Thursday.

“When we’re at home we feel confident. The crowd are behind us trying to push us on. It’s good that we’ve got the support.

“If we get a few more back-to-back wins it would be good for us because we can keep climbing the table and get into the top six.”

The two second tier giants are currently separated by five places and seven points in the table.

Leeds currently have the upper hand sat in fifth, while Villa are down in 10th after a poor start.

However, both teams are in good form with Villa winning three of their last four matches, while Leeds have won five of their last six league games.

It will be sure to be an enthralling encounter in the Championship with both sides having aspirations of making the Premier League next season.

In other Leeds news, the club have arranged a pre-season friendly with second tier rivals.
