Aston Villa news: Two more stars to follow Douglas Luiz out – Wyness
Aston Villa’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Jacob Ramsey and Jhon Duran will follow Douglas Luiz out of the club this summer.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs –claimed Luiz’s imminent exit is a “surprise” after Villa secured Champions League qualification.
Football Insider has revealed (12 June) that Aston Villa star Luiz has reached an agreement in principle with Juventus over a summer transfer.
Sources say the Midlands giants are in advanced talks with Juve over a swap deal that could see Weston McKennie, 25, and Samuel Iling-Junior, 20, head to Villa Park – as well as a cash sum of around £20million.
The transfer comes amid a backdrop of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) worries at Villa after announcing a loss of £119million in their latest 2022-23 accounts.
Ramsey and Duran to follow Luiz out of Aston Villa, says Wyness
Wyness claimed further deals for Ramsey and Duran will follow in the transfer window, which opens on Friday (14 June).
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Nearly every transfer window recently, Luiz has been linked with a move.
“There’s been a lot of noise again about him going. I’m surprised, because with Champions League football – I thought he’d want to shine on that stage.
“But I do think Villa will move on from him now, he will go.
“I think Jacob Ramsey and Jhon Duran will also go.

“They’ll then start to look at splashing out on a new midfielder, as well as bringing Ross Barkley in.
“That will hopefully give them a bit more youth in the midfield.”
