Aston Villa plan to accept £30m Matty Cash bid – sources
Aston Villa will accept an offer of £30million for Matty Cash in the summer transfer window amid interest from AC Milan.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Villa will hold out for their asking price, causing a potential stumbling block for the Italian giants.
Sources say Unai Emery is searching the market for a new right-back, raising questions over the long-term future of the 26-year-old at Villa Park.
Villa need to raise funds through player sales to avoid the threat of breaching financial rules, with Cash’s name on the list of possible outgoings.
Aston Villa to accept £30million offer to sign Matty Cash
Cash made his move to Villa Park from Nottingham Forest in a £14million deal in 2020 and has since made 142 appearances.
A sale at £30million would allow the club to record a £16million profit towards avoiding a breach of profit and sustainability rules.
Last season, the Poland international played 46 games as he helped guide Villa into the Champions League through their fourth-placed Premier League finish.
A move to Milan would allow the right-back to play Champions League football after they finished second in the Serie A, while helping Villa raise funds to enter the market.
Emery is now looking to prepare his squad ahead of their European campaign, with multiple incoming deals expected when the window opens.

The potential sale of Douglas Luiz could be the first step towards balancing the books, but multiple outgoing transfers are expected for Emery to reinvest the money into his squad.
As revealed by Football Insider, Jhon Duran and Jacob Ramsey could follow Luiz out of Villa Park, with Cash joining the growing list.
In other news, Emery has met with Ross Barkley to hold face-to-face talks.
