Aston Villa player could already return to Bodymoor Heath as worrying update emerges
Aston Villa were building up a head of steam before the international break, with Unai Emery’s men enjoying a fine run of form.
Aston Villa thrashed Bournemouth 4-0 on Sunday (November 9) to move one point behind the Premier League’s surprise package, Sunderland.
Unai Emery’s men have now won five of their last six matches in the competition, transforming their fortunes after making a slow start to the campaign.
Emi Buendia was impressive against Bournemouth and has emerged as one of Emery’s most invaluable players, while Morgan Rogers has also shown improvement in recent weeks.
Rogers was criticised for his early-season form after looking like the shadow of the player he was in 2024/25, but the 23-year-old could have suffered a blow during the break.

Morgan Rogers picks up injury problem on international duty
Rogers, who signed a new contract at Aston Villa, was selected for Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania.
The Englishman has impressed for the Three Lions since breaking onto the international stage and was expected to be play a starring role in those two fixtures.

However, Tuchel has confirmed that Rogers has a ‘niggle around his hamstrings’ and will have to see if he’s fit enough to face Serbia on Thursday, November 13.
Whilst it doesn’t sound like a serious problem, it isn’t worth risking the former Middlesbrough man for two meaningless fixtures and he should return to Bodymoor Heath.
England have already secured their qualification for the 2026 World Cup and can afford to heavily rotate their squad.
Thomas Tuchel on competition between Jude Bellingham and Rogers
Rogers is one of several superstars England can select for the number 10 role and the Villa’s No.27 is vying for a starting spot ahead of Jude Bellingham.

Bellingham returned to Tuchel’s squad after missing out due to injury in September before being left out during the October international break.
When asked if Rogers and Bellingham could play together, Tuchel replied: “I don’t know. I guess so, but not both playing in the same position.
“Rather than finding positions for my best players just so that I can have them on the field, I prefer to put everyone in their best positions and have some competition.
“There is competition at the moment between the two of them. They are friends so it can also be friendly competition. It doesn’t always have to be a case of being enemies or hating each other.
“Can they play together? Yes, but in a different structure and maybe now isn’t the right moment to change our structure.”
