Football Insider rates the Aston Villa players in their 2-0 defeat against Leeds in the Championship on Saturday evening.
Pierluigi Gollini 3 – Leeds had four shots on target over the 90 minutes and two of those found themselves past the 21-year-old goalkeeper. Gollini was caught in no mans land for the opener and was weak in saving the second. He disappointed for Villa and must improve in the future.
Alan Hutton 5 – Kemar Roofe and Charlie Taylor found their way past the experienced defender on numerous occasions, while Souleymane Dourkara’s cross for the opener came from his side of the pitch.
Tommy Elphick 4 – Was too slow to deal with Hadi Sacko for the second goal, and the young French winger breezed past the former Premier League defender.
James Chester 5 – Done a professional job at the back and helped his side to deal with target man Chris Wood.
Jordan Amavi 4 – The Frenchman was another player in the Villa defence who couldn’t cope with the pace and trickery of Sacko. His performance was far lower than that required of a £9million signing.
Ashley Westwood 5 – Fairly anonymous in the centre of the park and his side needed far more creativity from the midfield.
Mile Jedinak 4 – The defensive midfielder struggled against the pace of the Leeds attack and the 32-year-old failed to impose himself in the match.
Gary Gardner 5 – Another missing man in the Villa midfield. Made one surging run, which caused problems to the Leeds defence, but struggled to create anything else of note.
Albert Adomah 6 – Villa’s best attacker on the night. The summer signing from Middlesbrough found a few good opportunities and he was unfortunate not to find the net after he broke through on goal in the second half.
Rudy Gestede 4 – A bad display from the striker linked with a move away from Villa Park. Looked totally lost upfront and failed to create anything of note for his side.
Jonathan Kodjia 4 – The Ivory Coast international was unusually off against Leeds. He struggled to impact the game and when he did get chances they amounted to nothing.
Jack Grealish (for Gardner 67 mins) – 6
Gabby Agbonlahor (for Gestede) – 5
Jordan Ayew (for Adomah) – 5
