Aston Villa ready Tammy Abraham hijack after new talks – sources

Aston Villa will make a formal move to hijack AC Milan’s Tammy Abraham deal if Jhon Duran leaves in the next two days, sources have told Football Insider.

Abraham has told friends that he would prefer to rejoin Villa rather than signing for the other English clubs interested in a deal.

Unai Emery’s side have been keeping a close eye on the 26-year-old’s situation all summer with a view to landing a reunion at Villa Park.

West Ham are among the English clubs considering a late swoop for Abraham and could make a move if they are able to move Danny Ings on.

However, he is currently in advanced talks over a move to Milan.

Duran, meanwhile, is attracting renewed interest from Chelsea in the closing stages of the window as Todd Boehly could return with a move for the striker – as revealed by Football Insider.

Sources say Villa are open to seeing him leave if they can land a replacement – with Abraham at the top of their list.

Aston Villa plotting late move to sign Tammy Abraham from Roma

Abraham made the move to Roma from Chelsea in 2021 but has struggled to make the desired impact after suffering multiple injury blows.

Despite that, he has found the net 37 times in 120 appearances for Italy’s capital club, and has attracted interest from clubs across Europe.

AC Milan are pushing to complete a deal, but Villa believe the striker will choose them should they reach an agreement with Roma to hijack his move to Milan.

Villa chiefs remain keen on his signature and will push for a reunion after he spent the season on loan in the Championship in the 2018-19 season.

Abraham scored 26 goals in 40 Villa appearances as he helped the side return to the Premier League – and could now return to boost their Champions League campaign.

Tammy Abraham playing for Roma

As the window draws to a close at 10pm on Friday 30 August, there is plenty of movement on the cards in the market, and a deal for Duran is likely to inspire action elsewhere.

Chelsea’s pursuit of the Villa man will be re-visited if they miss out on other targets, putting clubs on red alert in case they are forced into action.

In other news, Villa have opened talks over the signing of a new full-back.
