‘Aston Villa ready to accept nine-figure Morgan Rogers bid’

Morgan Rogers is now one of the star men at Aston Villa after his progression under Unai Emery in the 2024-25 campaign.

Rogers, 22, only signed a contract extension in November 2024 – with his new deal set to run until June 2030.

The England international has caught the eye of Premier League elite duo Chelsea and Man City with his performances at Aston Villa.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (6 May) that Emery is desperate to keep hold of Rogers but Villa acknowledge they will have to accept offers that are too good to turn down.

Aston Villa’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has suggested a record-breaking bid could see the attacking midfielder sacrificed this summer.

Rogers could fetch £100m+ fee at Aston Villa, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Rogers is worth at least £80million and could potentially even fetch a nine-figure fee.

Aston Villa’s current record sale came when Jack Grealish moved to Man City for £100million in 2021.

Wyness claimed Villa’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) situation could see Rogers sold this summer.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Rogers has become one of the huge Villa assets.

“He’s been around 27 goals this season – that’s a huge amount of quality he brings to the team.

“He is very exciting and pleasing on the eye to watch. He’s come of age this season.

“Villa are sailing very close to the wind on this PSR issue. They’re pushing the boundary.

“I think we’re going to see more trading and I do think Rogers is one of the assets they’re going to have to let go.

“He’ll go for a premium price – upwards of £80million, £90million and getting towards nine figures.”

“Look, it’s going to be hard. Villa fans won’t want to see him go, but he may be one asset they have to sacrifice.

“They aren’t blessed with a lot of other players who can sell for good prices.”

Aston Villa fear PSG will win Rashford race

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (30 April) that Aston Villa chiefs are increasingly convinced Marcus Rashford will join Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Villa agreed a £40million option to buy clause when they signed Rashford on loan from Man United in February.

However, any move is dependent on the forward’s approval – and Villa believe Champions League semi-finalists PSG are in pole position to agree a blockbuster deal.
